Target approaching

"Authorised"

With a slight cough the target takes a shot through the neck..

(23 = 13[d20]+10) Killed.

As the pandemonium breaks out I calmly pack up and stroll out the front of the building.

I allow a satisfied smile to cross my face before returning to my customary blank state.
Avoiding the public surveillance systems I make my way through the streets towards my current lodgings.

The faded sign proclaims it to be the 'Grand Royal hotel', in truth a medium sized venture that has seen better days but its location suits me well and they ask no questions of their guests.

Reaching my room I open my tablet to its insistent pinging, "Congratulations, contract fee has been wired as agreed, the client was most happy"

"Acknowledged"

Slight hesitation ..."We do have another contract in the area that may be of interest to you?"

I let my silence speak for me

continuing in a rush "We know you do not like to operate so quickly on another contract in the same area but the client has asked for you personally having been happy with your work previously."

"Which contract?"

"Gorgoin last year"

"Provide the details I will confirm shortly"

"Transferring now"

As the receipt was acknowledged I break the link and move to consider the details it opens up.

'Target - Chief of Information ministry 39 - General commissar Sven Tytus.'
'Age - 109 - Approx based on earliest information and use of longevity treatments.'
'In post approx. 30 years'
'No previous history available prior to public records as appointed Chief'

The details go on for pages but all they tell me is how little is known about this powerful man and how difficult it will be to complete this contract.

Allowing a brief grin at the thought of the challenge I send a brief response

"Agreed for 1 billion Imperial credits half up front, no negotiation, 24 hour limit"

A few minutes later a ping draws me back to the screen

"Agreed, funds transferring now"

Seeing the balance in my one use account increase I set off the re routing transfers to disguise the location it will end up in and lie back on the bed considering my latest challenge.

I need information, I decide to visit some likely sauces.

Heading into Vorcha town I make my way towards a underground hacker who maybe able to help.

Usually people recognise me, not for who I am but for the danger I represent and they subconsciously avoid entering into conflict. There are always those to stupid or arrogant to follow their natural instincts.

As I near my destination a small group of heavily tattooed thugs peel from the sides of the street and converge on me in a smaller side street.

I count six of which I note three are openly armed with bats or knives and the rest have poorly concealed weapons.

Coming to a stop I decide to let them open the dance.

"What ya got there goomba, let us see what's in that bag.."
"Giv'm ya sweet 'ket.."
snarls another waving his bat in my face

Dropping my bag I grab the bat and smash it back into his face

(17 = 17[d20]) Severe Injury: Incapacitating and may become Critical if untreated.

he goes down with his face a pulp. blood sprays

Before he hits the floor I have swung the bat to my right connecting with the first thug

(14 = 14[d20]) Moderate Injury: Hampers action significantly; will require first aid/medical attention.

he goes down bleeding heavily

The other start to move in on me, not realising what is happening

Reversing the bat I swing left at the closest one

(19 = 19[d20]) Critical Injury: Requires immediate attention; clearly life-threatening if not immediately deadly.

I crush her throat with the bat leaving her clutching at her throat as she suffocates.

I throw the bat at the next one

(10 = 10[d20]) Minor Injury: Largely superficial; painful and distracting, but not life threatening.

taking it in the face he staggers back bleeding but still in the fight.

As the fourth comes in with his machete I look his arm and twist, the snapping of bone has him scream as I twist the blade into my hand and bring it down into his skull

'Is it stuck?'

(Likely | 9[d10]) Yes.

Leaving the blade lodged in his head I push him backwards into the one untouched member, a youth who is shaking so much he reaches out to fend off the body and sticks his own stiletto into the back of the corpse.

Letting go in horror he turns and runs, the other one is already away.

brushing down my jacket I collect my bag and continue on my way.

Do I reach my destination without further delays?

(Likely | 10[d10]) Yes, and...

Word of my encounter has spread and all the other street toughs give me a wide berth.

Reaching my destination I enter into negotiations with the short hacker who can only be in her late teens, her handle is Synth and she offers to dig up the data I need for a fair fee.

Given my bank roll on this I could hire every hacker in the city but for now all I need is one to run under the radar until I have more information to plan with.

Leaving I move on to my next appointment.

Weapons dealers are always strange to deal with, they tend to be either too public and loud in the criminal underworld; usually a sign that they have limited wares and are likely to be killed or arrested in short order or too corporate and worried of losing lucrative contracts with government agencies.

However there are some that are both connected enough and subtle enough to meet the needs of such as I.

Is one such available in this City in the time frame I have?

(Likely | 6[d10]) Yes, but...

Unfortunately the only available weapons dealer in this area that meets my needs for specialist equipment is:

1) Under arrest on unrelated charges with local PD?
2) Under arrest in related charges with local PD but waiting pick up by other agencies?
3) has been picked up/arrested by other agencies?
4) Hates or dislikes me from earlier dealings?
5) is hiding and needs help with a local problem before working again?
6) has another local deal taking priority

5 = 5[d6]

Do I know where he is?

(Likely | 8[d10]) Yes.

His problem is:

1) local Gang boss
2) Local Mafia boss
3) rival arms dealer
4) former customer
5) government agent
6) local PD
7) Other

2 = 2[d7]

So he has a major issue with a local Mafia boss, something a dealer like this would usually be free from but either he made some poor decisions about who to do business with or otherwise found himself in a situation with no acceptable outcome.

1) Refused to sell to Mafia boss certain tech?
2) Refused to buy supplies from Mafia as poor quality?
3) Mafia refused to pay so he withheld delivery?
4) Personal issue with a Mafia member?
5) other

4 = 4[d5]

So it is a personal issue

Did he sleep with the daughter of someone he shouldn't have?

(50/50 | 2[d10]) No.

Did he kill the wrong person?

(50/50 | 3[d10]) No.

Did he insult someone?

(50/50 | 6[d10]) Yes, but...

He didn't know they were a family member of a senior Mafia member?

(Likely | 6[d10]) Yes, but...

the offended party tried violence?

(Likely | 10[d10]) Yes, and...

Got injured badly but will live.

upon being warned the dealer went into hiding.

Is the Mafia relation open to settlement?

(50/50 | 5[d10]) No, but...

If he was killed settlement could be reached with his associates.

(Likely | 7[d10]) Yes.

Is the arms dealer willing to meet before this is taken care of?

(Very Unlikely | 3[d10]) No.

Do I know where to find the Mafia target?

(50/50 | 9[d10]) Yes.

Is an open distance kill likely?

(50/50 | 4[d10]) No. +Twist: Item / Ends the scene

Looks like he never seems to leave his family bar, I will have to find a way into him then.

*****This was fun have to remember to come back to this one****
