What did you use to get 'buts' and 'ands'?

Yeah, I figured that part out, but how'd you come up with what those 'buts' and 'ands' represented?
Gah, I'm having difficulty expressing myself today. What I mean is that a 'yes, but...' needs something after, like, well, 'Someone let him in the back gate but I couldn't see who it was. I wait until they get in and hurry over to the gate. Can I climb it?'.
Was what followed the 'but' just the product of a fertile imagination, or was there some sort of random inspiration involved?

Ah, the continuation of the meaning of the 'buts' and the 'ands' are just made up based on context, logic, and imagination. How do I solo role-play?
